We live in a self care obsessed culture, but supporting your emotions is more than a fresh manicure and a bubble bath. You can do those things and never truly rest or care for your emotional health!
Why do we care about emotions? First of all, several of us have walked tough roads with struggles like depression and anxiety, and we see the importance of prioritizing emotional health. Secondly, we see a difference very quickly if we struggle physically, but our emotional health can be sneaky. We have to make sure we are regularly evaluating our mental health so negative emotions don’t build up and cause stress or harm. Self-awareness can be really powerful if we take the time to invest in it. So let’s do that together!
Here are 5 simple ways to regularly support your emotions:
Start a Gratitude Journal – gratitude sends anxiety and depression on the run. Start a journal and find something new to be grateful for everyday. We created a guide to help with this! You can download your free gratitude guide right here.
Go for a Walk – fresh air and movement signal the release of some happy hormones! There is something so healing about nature and a change of scenery. Even if it’s short, try to walk outside every day & take some deep breaths.
Diffuse Essential Oils – oils can help remind your body to release specific chemicals that balance your emotions. There are even oils for specific emotions. Be on the lookout for a blog post about this in the near future!
Read a Book – whether it’s a book to help you learn more about yourself and how to take healthy steps towards growth or a book to merely give your mind a break from day to day life, reading can be one of the best ways to relax.
Don’t Do Life Alone – this is most important. Grab some friends and live life in community. You need people, and someone needs YOU!
